Structure

Malga Ciapela and surroundings

Malga Ciapela is a tourist center, composed mainly of hotels and shops. From here the cable car of the Marmolada starts, which connects the departure station (1,450 m) to Punta Rocca (3,265 m) in three sections, near Punta Penia ( 3,342 m), the highest peak in the Dolomites. Recently renovated, it can carry over 900 people per hour with 70-seater cabins. At the end of the second section of the cable car (Piz Serauta, 2,950 m), there is a museum dedicated to the First World War, with testimonies of the fighting that took place on those montagne. Presso Malga Ciapela passes the Alta via n. 2, which from Bressanone reaches Feltre.
